The research project led to the Discovery of a whole series of unpublished texts by Alejandro Malaspina on natural philosophy, aesthetics, and the idea of whiteness in the colonial context at the end of the Enlightenment. It also led to discover unknown aspects of Malaspina’s biography during his stay in Madrid, when he took part in a plot against Godoy.

In addition to papers published in magazines of excellence, such as Asclepio or Revista de Indias, the main result of the research project, was the book Lo bello en la Naturaleza. Alejandro Malaspina: estética, blancura y filosofía natural en el ocaso de la Ilustración (1795-1803), Madrid: CSIC, 2022. This work presents for the first time the collection of hitherto unknown texts published by Malaspina under a pseudonym in the Diario de Madrid in 1795. This book also contains a new critical edition of Malaspina´s Philosophical Meditation on Beauty, as well as the more detailed analysis hitherto published about the philosophical and anthropological thought of Alejandro Malaspina, director of the greatest Spanish scientific expedition of the Enlightenment.
